Dolphins Discussing A Long-Term Agreement With DT Randy Starks

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have already begun contract negotiations with impending free agent DT Randy Starks.

According to Jackson, Miami has made it quite clear that they want to re-sign him, but admits that the two sides are not close to reaching an agreement.

Starks is in a great position to land a very solid contract in the coming months. Several reports have indicated that the Dolphins clearly intend to shop for value in regards to signing and retaining veteran players.

There’s a chance that the Dolphins could end up passing on Starks and moving DE Jared Odrick inside to tackle, or possibly even draft a replacement.

Another player who is set to hit the market is QB Matt Moore. According Jackson, Moore has informed the team that he would like to pursue a better opportunity to start in the NFL. Unless the team offers Moore an “incredible offer” to remain the team’s backup, it seems as though Moore will not return next season.

We have Starks listed as the No. 22 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
