According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins are expected to pursue LSU OL La’el Collins if he’s cleared of involvement in a murder of an ex-girlfriend.

It’s worth mentioning that police have said on multiple occasions that Collins isn’t considered to be a suspect in the case. Collins even met with police on Monday regarding the situation.

Jackson mentions that Collins is one of the players the Dolphins brought in for pre-draft a workout and it sounds like he has support from LSU players currently on Miami’s roster.

Ian Rapoport reported earlier in the day that there should be a great deal of interest in Collins if he ends up being cleared.

However, he will end up losing out on millions of dollars, as the money teams can offer him is capped.

Rapoport points out that Collins will be able to renegotiate his contract after two years given that he wound up going undrafted, which will likely lead to him looking for the best fit and opportunity.

Jackson believes Collins would play guard initially withe Dolphins unless they move Ja’Wuan James from right tackle to guard.

In terms of rebuilding his value, it would probably make sense for him to look at opportunities from teams to play offensive tackle, as this usually comes with a higher salary.

We’ll have more regarding Collins and who could end up signing him as the news is available.
