Dolphins Gave LB Deon Lacey $200K Signing Bonus In Futures Deal

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Dolphins gave LB Deon Lacey a $200,000 signing bonus upon agreeing to a future/reserve contract earlier in the week.

Yates points out that almost all of the players who sign futures deals do not receive any guaranteed money, so this is a big commitment from Miami, relatively speaking.

The Dolphins have signed four players to futures deals in the past week including:

Future/reserve contracts are essentially an opportunity for players compete for a roster spot in offseason workouts and during training camp.

Lacey, 26, originally signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of West Alabama back in 2013. Unfortunately, Dallas decided to make him among their final roster cuts.

Although he has not signed a contract since becoming a free agent, he has worked out for a number of teams this year including the Jets, Vikings, Broncos, Patriots, Lions, Buccaneers and Cardinals.

Lacey has yet to appear in an NFL game.
