Dolphins Have Discussed Signing Brandon Flowers & Kareem Jackson, Could Consider Darrelle Revis As Well

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have discussed the idea of signing free agents cornerbacks Brandon Flowers of the Chargers and Kareem Jackson of the Texans.

According to Jackson, the Dolphins are looking for upgrades to veteran CB Cortland Finnegan.

Jackson adds that Miami has likely discussed other free agents corners as well, but these were to two players mentioned his source.

Another option that would make sense for Miami is Antonio Cromartie, whom Mike Tannenbaum traded for several years ago when he was the Jets’ general manager.

One other note of interest from Jackson: A source close to Patriots CB Darrelle Revis expects the Dolphins to reach out to him if he ends up being available.

However, Jackson admits that it’s “highly questionable” whether the Dolphins have the kind of cap space to be a serious option for Revis.

Jackson, 26, has played out his five-year, $13.52 million rookie contract and is in line to be an unrestricted free agent in the next few weeks.

In 2014, Jackson recorded 57 tackles, three interceptions and nine pass defenses over the course of 13 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 11 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.

Flowers, 29, signed a one-year contract worth $3 million with the Chargers after the Chiefs elected to cut him loose last year. Flowers managed to put together a very solid 2014 season and is in line for a sizable raise over the next few weeks.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 15 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.
