Armando Salguero reports that the Dolphins have promoted director of college scouting Chris Grier to GM, as expected.
Salguero adds that the two parties will iron out the details of Grier’s new contract on Monday, and there should be an official announcement as well.
Grier will take over for Dennis Hickey, who was fired by the team Saturday night.
It’s clear that vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum is calling the shots now in Miami, so it should come as no surprise that they have elected to promote one of his supporters to the GM role.
It will be interesting to see if this ends up having any impact on the team’s head-coaching search, seeing as some of the top candidate may prefer to have control over the personnel matters.
