Dolphins Hosting QB Brock Osweiler For Visit Thursday

According to Chris Mish, the Dolphins are bringing in free agent QB Brock Osweiler for a visit on Thursday.

This is the first reported interest in Osweiler since the free agent market officially opened.

The Dolphins are in the market for a backup a backup and it appears as though Osweiler is among the players being considered.

Osweiler, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Broncos in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with the Broncos before signing a four-year, $72 million contract with the Texans that included $37 million guaranteed back in 2016.

The Texans traded Osweiler and a 2018 second-round pick to the Browns in return for a 2017 fourth-round pick.

Cleveland had been attempting to trade Osweiler since they acquired him but the ultimately cut him loose coming out of the preseason after no deal surfaced. The Broncos signed him to a contract soon after and he finished out the year in Denver.

In 2017, Osweiler appeared in six games and completed 55.8 percent of his passes for 1,088 yards to go along with five touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 38 quarterback out of 39 qualifying players.
