Dolphins LB Philip Wheeler On The Chopping Block? – Raiders Could Have Interest

Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle mentions that he has heard a few times now that Dolphins LB Philip Wheeler could be on the chopping block this offseason.

  • Tafur adds that if the Dolphins were to part ways with Wheeler, the Raiders would be “very interested” in bringing him back.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald mentioned a few weeks ago that Wheeler could be on the chopping block, so there is a chance that there could be something to the idea of the Dolphins releasing Wheeler.

Wheeler, 29, signed a five-year, $26 million contract that included $13 million guaranteed with the Dolphins last season. He produced a career-high 118 tackles to go along with a half sack and a fumble recovery.

The Raiders have plenty of cap space to work with, so it would make sense for them to check in a guy who actually played pretty well for them two seasons ago.
