Mike Garafolo of USA Today mentioned that the Dolphins and Lions have shown interest in free agent DE Osi Umenyiora, but adds that the lack of money being committed to defensive ends this offseason has really had a big impact on the market for this position.

Before the start of free agency, there were rumors that the Falcons, Buccaneers and Seahawks could also be potential landing spots for Osi, but there has been minimal buzz at best surrounding him in the past week.

The Lions and Buccaneers lost Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett respectively to the Seahawks, so it would make sense for them to be keeping tabs on the available defensive ends. Miami seems to have interest in almost every free agent, but it’s doubtful that they would sign Umenyiora to anything but a team-friendly deal at this point.

Dwight Freeney, John Abraham and Elvis Dumervil are also available, so this could take some time before Umenyiora finally signs on with a new team. It’s definitely a buyers-market out there.
