Dolphins LT Branden Albert Likely Out Until Week 3, Dallas Thomas To Fill In

Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that Dolphins LT Branden Albert (knee) is expected to be out of the starting lineup for Miami until Week 3.

The Dolphins are likely to go with Dallas Thomas at left tackle in place of Albert, according to Caplan.

Albert has reportedly been working hard to return from a season-ending ACL tear he suffered last year.

There’s no question that not having their best offensive lineman to start the season could be a big issue for the Dolphins, who are hoping to make the playoffs for the first time under HC Joe Philbin.

Albert , 30, signed a five-year, $46 million contract that included $25 million guaranteed with the Dolphins back in March of last year. He stands to make base salaries of $9 million (2015), $8.425 million (2016), $8.875 million (2017), and $9.575 million (2018) over the remainder of the contract.

We’ll have more regarding Albert’s status as the news is available.
