Dolphins “Making A Serious Run” At WR Greg Jennings In Free Agency?

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins will “consider making a serious run” at signing Green Bay Packers’ WR Greg Jennings during free agency, assuming that he’s allowed to hit the free market.

“If the right player is there, I don’t care what it costs,” said Dolphins owner Steve Ross. “I’m willing to spend whatever it takes.

Ross later added that “free agency isn’t the answer,” so there’s some mixed signals coming from him on the topic of adding marquee players.

Miami has had noted troubles at receiver this season after trading WR Brandon Marshall to the Bears. Jennings is one of the best route-runners in the league and has shown in recent weeks that he’s finally getting back to full strength. The Packers could use their franchise tag on him in since the two sides haven’t been discussing a long-term deal at all. Joe Philbin is more than aware of what Jennings brings to an offense given that he was the Packers offensive coordinator just last year.

Dwayne Bowe and Mike Wallace could be other potential options if the Dolphins do elect to look for a big-name receiver in free agency.

We have Jennings listed as the No. 5 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
