Dolphins Negotiating Extension For S T.J. McDonald

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins have been so impressed by what they’ve seen from S T.J. McDonald the past few months that they’re negotiating a contract extension with his agent.

According to Salguero, Miami wants to get an extension in place as soon as this weekend and before McDonald returns to the field following his eight-game suspension.

McDonald, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Rams back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.926 million rookie contract before signing a one-year, $1.34 million contract with the Dolphins this offseason.

McDonald will, however, have to serve an eight-game suspension to open the year.

In 2016, McDonald appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and recorded 64 tackles, one sack, two interceptions and six pass defenses.
