Dolphins Place C Mike Pouncey On Season-Ending Injured Reserve

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that following a consultation with the team’s medical staff and a specialist, the Dolphins decided to place C Mike Pouncey on season-ending injured reserve.

According to Salguero, Miami feared that if they allowed Pouncey to play at any point the remainder of this year, he could further damage the hip that has already undergone surgery once and flared up again a month ago.

Pouncey, 27, is in the second year of his six-year, $52.438 million contract that includes $22 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $9 million in 2016.

In 2016, Pouncey has appeared in five games for the Dolphins and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 27 center out of 36 qualifying players.
