Dolphins Place RB Knowshon Moreno On Season-Ending I.R.

The Miami Dolphins have placed RB Knowshon Moreno on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday with an ACL injury.

This is a bit surprising given that we hadn’t heard anything to suggest that Moreno sustained a major knee injury during Sunday’s loss to the Packers.

Ian Rapoport reports that Moreno torn his ACL during the third quarter, but stayed in the game for another play.

Moreno, 27, signed a one-year, $3 million contract that included $1.25 million guaranteed, so this is hardly the type of news he was hoping for given that he’ll have to test the open market for the second straight year.

As a free agent, Moreno found very little interest, which implies that he’ll have an even harder time securing a roster spot before next year training camp.

His season ends with him rushing for 148 yards on 31 carries (4.8 YPC) and one touchdown over the course of three games.
