Dolphins Possibly Trading DE Jared Odrick?

Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald suggests that the Dolphins should consider placing DE Jared Odrick on the trading block this offseason.

Odrick, the team’s first-round pick in 2010, was drafted for the team’s previous 3-4 defense system, but since then they’ve changed to a 4-3 base defense. At 300 plus pounds, he’s hardly an ideal fit to 4-3 defensive end.

Pro Football Focus rated him as the third-worst 4-3 defensive end last year, just to put things in perspective.

Salguero mentions that shopping Odrick around the league now should be something that the Dolphins consider given that he has enough value to garner interest from other 3-4 teams and possibly net them a second or third-round pick.

It’s obviously impossible to say whether or not any team would be willing to part with that high of a draft pick for the former first-rounder, but 3-4 teams generally are willing to make decent investments in guys who are solid fits for their scheme.

We’ll have to see what the Dolphins plans are Odrick this offseason as it’s pretty clear that he’s no longer a good fit for them.
