The Dolphins A Potential Option For LeGarrette Blount?

According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, it “wouldn’t be surprising” if the Dolphins pursued impending free agent RB LeGarrette Blount this offseason.

Jackson points to the fact that new GM Dennis Hickey was responsible for the Buccaneers claiming Blount off of waivers from the Titans. Tampa Bay would later send Blount to the Patriots in a trade for Jeff Demps, but it’s clear that New England has gotten the better end of this deal.

Blount, 27, finished the season with 772 yards rushing (5 yards per carry) and seven touchdowns. Blount nearly led the Patriots in rushing this year, but came up one yard shy of Stevan Ridley.

Even with the increase in production this season, it would make sense for prospective teams to approach Blount with caution given that signing players who are coming off of breakout seasons have ended poorly a countless number of times in the past.

We have him listed as the No. 79 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.

Other Dolphins Notes:

  • Jackson believes the Dolphins could continue their pursuit of Chiefs LT Brandon Albert this offseason.
