Dolphins Promote RB De’Veon Smith From Practice Squad

According to Armando Salguero, the Dolphins are promoting RB De’Veon Smith from their practice squad to the active roster.

This is a corresponding roster move to waiving veteran LB Rey Maualuga. (NFLTR)

Smith, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan this past May. He stands to make base salaries of $465,000 (2017), $555,000 (2018) and $645,000 (2019).

During his four-year college career at Michigan, Smith rushed for 2,235 yards on 495 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 38 receptions for 251 yards receiving and 23 total touchdowns over the course of 41 games.
