Dolphins Re-Sign OL Jermon Bushrod

The Miami Dolphins announced Thursday that they’ve re-signed veteran OL Jermon Bushrod.

There had been talk that Bushrod could return to the Dolphins for the 2017 season, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise, especially when you consider the options still available in free agency.

Bushrod, 32, is a former fourth-round pick of the Saints back in 2007. He spent six years in New Orleans before he departed in free agency for a five-year, $35.965 million contract that included $22.465 million guaranteed with the Bears. Unfortunately, Bushrod lasted just three seasons in Chicago before he was released in February of last year.

The Dolphins signed him to a one-year contract and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent.

In 2016, Bushrod appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 69 overall guard out of 71 qualifying players.
