The Miami Dolphins officially signed RB De’Veon Smith to their practice squad on Wednesday.
Smith, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan this past May. He stands to make base salaries of $465,000 (2017), $555,000 (2018) and $645,000 (2019).
The Dolphins promoted Smith to their active roster last week but waived him on Monday.
During his four-year college career at Michigan, Smith rushed for 2,235 yards on 495 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 38 receptions for 251 yards receiving and 23 total touchdowns over the course of 41 games.
