Dolphins Re-Sign RFA RB Damien Williams

The Miami Dolphins re-signed restricted free agent RB Damien Williams, according to Adam Beasley.

Williams visited with the Patriots this offseason, but they elected to sign Mike Gillislee to a two-year, $6.4 million deal instead.

The original-round tender will cost the Dolphins around $1.797 million for the 2017 season.

A recent report mentioned that Williams had not signed his restricted tender because he was looking for a more money than what he would make under the restricted tender. However, it appears as though Williams finally elected to take the Dolphins’ one-year offer.

Williams, 25, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in 2014. He just finished the final year of a three-year, $1,535,000 contract.

In 2016, Williams appeared in 15 games for the Dolphins and recorded 115 yards on 35 carries (3.3 YPC) and three touchdowns. He also accumulated 23 receptions for 249 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
