Dolphins Re-Signing CB Bene Benwikere To Practice Squad

Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports that the Dolphins are re-signing CB Bene Benwikere to their practice squad now that he’s passed through waivers unclaimed.

The Dolphins’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. S A.J. Hendy
  2. DE Julius Warmsley
  3. WR Rashawn Scott
  4. LB Brandon Watts
  5. QB Brandon Doughty
  6. C Jake Brendel
  7. OT Terry Poole
  8. RB Senorise Perry
  9. RB Storm Johnson
  10. CB Bene Benwikere

Benwikere, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2014. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $2.419 million contract and set to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.

The Panthers elected to cut him loose last month and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Dolphins. However, Miami cut him loose earlier in the week.

In 2016, Benwikere has appeared in four games for the Panthers and recorded 10 tackles, one interception and four pass defenses for the Panthers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 87 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
