Dolphins Release 9 Players From Reserve/Retired List Including RB Arian Foster

The Miami Dolphins officially released nine players from the reserve/retired list on Thursday including RB Arian Foster.

The Dolphins are essentially doing some house cleaning with these moves, as it’s very rare for players to attempt a comeback after retiring from the NFL.

By placing them on the reserve/retired list, the Dolphins ensured that they held their rights in case they wanted to return to the league.

Foster announced his retirement from the NFL back in October.

Foster, 30, originally signed on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee back in back in 2009. He spent seven years with the Texans before they released him in March of last year.

Miami elected to sign Foster to a one-year deal worth over $3.5 million a few months later but wound up dealing with injuries last year and later suffered another lower body/soft-tissue injury that led to the decision to walk away.

Over the course of his eight-year career, Foster ran for 6,527 yards on 1,476 carries (4.4 YPC) to go along with 255 receptions for 2,346 yards receiving and 68 total touchdowns. Foster was a four-time Pro Bowl selection and was a first-team All-Pro in 2010.
