Dolphins Release CB Brice McCain

The Miami Dolphins released CB Brice McCain on Friday, according to his agent David Canter.

McCain, 29, was in the final year of his two-year, $5.5 million contract that included $3 million guaranteed. He was in line to make a base salary of $2.5 million for the 2016 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing McCain will free up $2.5 million in available cap space while creating $1 million in dead money.

In 2015, McCain appeared in 14 games for the Dolphins and recorded 39 tackles, an interception, and 10 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 93 cornerback out of 118 qualifying players.
