Dolphins S Reshad Jones Holding Out For New Contract

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that Dolphins S Reshad Jones isn’t happy with his current contract and plans to hold out of offseason activities unless an extension is agreed to.

Without Jones in camp, the Dolphins are left with Shamiel Gary, Isa Abdul-Quddus, Walt Aikens, and Michael Thomas at the safety position.

Jones, 28, is a former fifth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2010. He later signed a five-year, $30.81 million contract that included $15 million guaranteed with the Dolphins back in 2013.

Jones still has another two years remaining on his current deal and stands to make base salaries of $7.225 million and $7.06 million over the next two years.

In 2015, Jones appeared in all 16 games and recorded 136 tackles, two sacks, five interceptions with two being returned for touchdowns, a fumble recovery and 10 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 13 safety out of 89 qualifying players.
