Dolphins S Reshad Jones Will Not Holdout Of OTAs

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that Dolphins S Reshad Jones will report to OTAs on Tuesday after threatening a holdout until his contract is addressed.

Jones skipped an offseason conditioning session Monday, but appears to have changed his mind regarding a holdout after his agent Joel Segal and Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland spoke “several times” late Monday evening.

Ireland reportedly assured Segal that they would “eventually” discuss an extension if he were to attend OTAs.

Jones, 25, is in the final year of his rookie deal and stands to make $1.323 million for the 2013 season. He led the team in interceptions last season.

Miami could fine Jones for skipping training camp, so getting him to report now shifts the immediate leverage in their favor to some degree. Ultimately, they’ll have to decide if Jones is a part of their long-term future.
