Dolphins Set On Peyton Manning?

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that a source close to the Miami Dolphins has mentioned that the Dolphins top priority will be to acquire Peyton Manning during the offseason.

Barry Jackson reports that Miami hasn’t even shown “preliminary interest” in Green Bay Packers QB Matt Flynn who played for Joe Philbin for the last few years.

The club believes a healthy Peyton Manning is simply a better gamble than an unproven Matt Flynn, writes Salguero.  “Flynn is younger and will be cheaper (although not by a lot) but clearly the Dolphins are more drawn to the idea of a proven NFL performer — despite his advancing age and greater risk of his neck injury resurfacing.”

This idea has been purposed in recent weeks but this is a pretty clear indication of the team’s offseason plans. Obviously, things can change rather quickly but as of now it’s safe to say that signing Manning will be top priority for Miami. Now if he can just prove that he’s healthy enough to play.
