Dolphins Sign OT Sam Young To One-Year, $1.15M Extension

Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Dolphins have signed OT Sam Young to a one-year extension on Wednesday.

  • Armando Salguero confirms the news and adds that Young received a one-year, $1,150,000 with $325,000 guaranteed.
  • Salguero adds that Young receives a $200,000 signing bonus and the deal includes a $50,000 workout bonus and $900,000 salary in 2017.

Young, 29, is a former sixth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2010. He lasted just one year with Dallas before being claimed off of waivers by the Bills.

The Jaguars later claimed Young off of waivers from the Bills during the 2013 season before bringing him back on a two-year contract. The Dolphins signed Young to a one-year deal this past March as an unrestricted free agent but he was unfortunately among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

Even so, Miami elected to bring Young back in October.

In 2016, Young appeared in seven games for the Dolphins and has played a total of 146 snaps this year, according to Pro Football Focus.
