Dolphins Sign QB David Garrard

Jay Glazer reports that David Garrard has informed him that he’s signed with the Miami Dolphins.

Garrard is coming off of back surgery which cost him the entire 2011 season. It’s really hard to say that he can still be an effective quarterback at this point in his career, so this is probably great news for Matt Moore.

This will certainly have a big impact on what’s left of the quarterback market. First off, it eliminates any leverage that Alex Smith was hoping to have over the 49ers. He’ll have to cave in and accept their reasonable offer of three-years at $24 million. Secondly, Tim Tebow is no longer an option for the Dolphins, even though that was purely based on speculation. Third, Miami will now enter the 2012 season with Matt Moore and David Garrard at quartterback, but you can’t rule out the possibility that they draft a quarterback next month.
