Dolphins Sign TE Brandon Williams, Cut S Jordan Kovacs

The Miami Dolphins announced that they’ve re-signed TE Brandon Williams and waived S Jordan Kovacs on Tuesday.

  • The Dolphins also placed DT Robert Thomas on season-ending injured reserve.

Williams, 28, is a former fourth round pick of the Cowboys back in 2009. He lasted just over two years in Dallas before he was waived at the start of the 2011 season.

Since then, Williams has played for the Cardinals and Panthers before joining the Dolphins back in September. Miami waived him this past weekend to make room for DE Jordan Williams, who was promoted to their active roster

This season, Williams has been active for six games, but has yet to record a single statistic.

Kovacs, 25, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan back in 2013. He spent a little over two years in Miami before he was waived and later signed by the Eagles to their practice squad.

The Dolphins elected to bring Kovacs back in October of last year and later signed him to an exclusive rights contract.

This season, Kovacs has appeared in 11 games for the Dolphins and recorded three tackles and a sack.
