Dolphins Signing LB Rey Maualuga

According to Armando Salguero, the Dolphins are signing LB Rey Maualuga to a contract on Saturday.

Miami brought in Maualuga for a workout on Tuesday, so they were apparently impressed enough to sign him. The Dolphins could really use some linebacker depth after they, unfortunately, lost second-round pick Raekwon McMillan for the season with a torn ACL last week.

Maualuga, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Bengals back in 2009. He was entering the final year of his three-year, $15 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $3.7 million in 2017.

The Bengals released several months ago in a move that created $3,668,750 in available cap space.

In 2016, Maualuga appeared in 14 games for the Bengals and recorded 27 total tackles, one interception and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 85 overall linebacker out of 87 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
