Dolphins Signing S T.J. McDonald

Update:

The Miami Dolphins have already announced the signing of S T.J. McDonald.

James Walker of ESPN is reporting that the Dolphins have agreed to terms with free agent S T.J. McDonald.

  • According to Armando Salguero, McDonald receives a one-year minimum salary contract from the Dolphins.
  • Sources tell Salguero that multiple teams were interested in signing McDonald, but he chose the Dolphins in the end.

This comes just a few days after he visited with the Dolphins. However, McDonald was just recently suspended for the first eight games of the 2017 season.

Ian Rapoport reported that this suspension stems from McDonald’s DUI from last May that included drug charges.

McDonald, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Rams back in 2013. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.926 million rookie contract and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.

In 2016, McDonald appeared in all 16 games for the Rams and recorded 64 tackles, one sack, two interceptions and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the No. 58 overall safety out of 89 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Top 50 Available Free Agents list.
