Carpenter who was to a one-year deal a couple days ago, apparently wasn’t able to beat out Jay Feely for the starting job. The fact that Carpenter had a $70k roster bonus coming his way if he were able to crack the team’s 53-man roster probably also factored into the Cardinals’ decision.

There are still some teams in need of help at kicker, so we’ll have to see if gets another shot at some point in the near future.
