Dolphins Waiving RB De’Veon Smith

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins are waiving RB De’Veon Smith on Monday.

  • According to Adam Beasley, the Dolphins will likely re-sign Smith to their practice squad if he clears waivers.

Smith, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan this past May. He stands to make base salaries of $465,000 (2017), $555,000 (2018) and $645,000 (2019).

The Dolphins promoted Smith to their active roster last week.

During his four-year college career at Michigan, Smith rushed for 2,235 yards on 495 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 38 receptions for 251 yards receiving and 23 total touchdowns over the course of 41 games.
