Dolphins Weighing Possibility Of Keeping Suspended LB Dion Jordan Beyond 2015

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins are still considering the idea of keeping suspended LB Dion Jordan in 2016.

According to Jackson, the Dolphins aren’t actively trying to collect Jordan’s signing bonus money, even after he was suspended for the entire 2015 season for violating the league’s drug policy

Jordan hasn’t participated in any of the team’s offseason workouts, due to league rules that prevent players who have been suspended for the following season from being a part of OTAs and minicamp.

As of now, Jordan’s only contact with the team is weekly correspondence with Dolphins’ director of player engagement, Kaleb Thornhill.

There was talk during the offseason that Jordan could be dealt to the Eagles, but that was before he received another suspension.

Jordan, 25, still has two years remaining on his four-year, $20.572 million rookie contract, which includes base salaries of $585,000 (2015) and $675,000 (2016).

The Dolphins traded up to No. 3 overall back in 2012 to select Jordan, but he hasn’t come anywhere close to living up to his draft status.

In 2014, Jordan appeared in 10 games and recorded 20 tackles, one sack, and a pass defense for the Dolphins.
