Dolphins Working Out Veteran LB A.J. Hawk This Week

Joe Schad, citing a league source, reports that the Dolphins are bringing in veteran LB A.J. Hawk for a workout for this week.

This is the first reported interest in Hawk since the Bengals cut him loose back in April.

Hawk previously mentioned in an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio that he would “definitely” like to play this season.

However, Hawk added that it would have to be “the right situation” and with “a team that can win.”

Hawk, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2006. After nine years in Green Bay, Hawk signed two-year, $3.25 million contract with the Bengals last year and was set to make a base salary of $1.1 million for the 2016 season.

However, the Bengals elected to move on and released him in a move that cleared $1.4 million in available cap space.

In 2015, Hawk appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded 24 tackles and sack. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 52 linebacker out of 97 qualifying players.
