Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry On Extension: “There’s Nothing Really Going On”

Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry said he has spoken with the team “back and forth” regarding a contract extension, but that there has not been much progress towards reaching an agreement.

I’m not really worried about any contract or anything like that,” Landry said, via James Walker of ESPN. “I’m more focused on trying to help my team get to a Super Bowl, week in and week out playing hard and playing together. We’ve talked back and forth but there’s nothing really going on. We’re just really focusing on right now today.”

Landry went on to say that he does not have a deadline on an extension and that has no plans of holding out.

I don’t really have a breaking point,” Landry said. “I’m at the point in my life where I’m set. I’m comfortable in the position that I’m in right now. I’m here to help my team get to the Super Bowl and it starts with me being here. I can’t be one of those guys that sit out or not show up and just bring bad whatever to the organization. For me, I know that I need to be here.”

Landry is in line for a large contract extension at some point over the next year or so, as he’s developed into one of the best young receivers in the NFL.

Landry, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2014. He’s entering the final year of his four-year, $3.5 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $893,852 for the 2017 season.

In 2016, Landry appeared in all 16 games for the Dolphins and caught 94 passes for 1,136 yards receiving and four touchdowns. He also contributed 163 kick return yards. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 9 receiver out of 115 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding a new deal for Landry as the news is available.
