Russ Lande of Sporting News takes an in-depth look at DT Dontari Poe.
The Memphis Tackle, who shot up draft boards after stealing the show at the scouting combine, sent scouts scurrying for their game film. After the performance at the combine Poe went from an early second round prospect to in consideration as a top-ten pick.
Now that scouts have had a bit more time to digest game film of Poe’s, it’s likely that he’s falling back towards his original projection. Apparently scouts are comparing the young prospect to Ryan Sims, who was selected sixth overall by the Kansas City Chiefs before a less than impressive playing career.
Even if Poe does witness success in the league, his game film suggests that he will be more of a project, perhaps taking a few years to develop, much like current Chargers DT Vaughn Martin, who came into the league raw.
