Down To Two Suitors For Kevin Kolb?

Jason La Canfora of NFL Network reiterates what we have already come to believe which is that the Philadelphia Eagles are likely to trade Kevin Kolb once teams are able to begin their offseasons. La Canfora mentions that he’s likely to be shipped off to the NFC West, more specifically Seattle or Arizona, and adds that the Eagles are sticking by their asking price of a first-round pick in return for Kolb.

Most of the people I talk to in the league believe it’s a two-horse race between Arizona and Seattle,” La Canfora writes. “The Eagles want first-round compensation, and if the market bears only a second and a little something else, then sources say there is a very real chance Philly holds on to him as insurance for 2011. Ultimately, I think they get the first-round pick for him, though. If not, he stays.

If it was just a first-round pick I could see a team willing to make that trade especially when you consider the quarterbacks that are under center in the NFC West other than Sam Bradford. The problem is that whoever ends up trading for Kolb will have to re-sign to a multi-year deal because he’ll be a free agent at the end of the 2011 season. Kolb’s agent is already on record as saying that he feels his client should command a similar deal to the one that Houston gave Matt Schaub (6 years, $48 million). We’re talking about a guy that has very limited experience and has thrown for 11 td’s and 14 interceptions. He did however have back-to-back 300 yards games two seasons ago but the question marks should be a concern for any team that’s considering pulling the trigger on a deal for him.
