Draft Rumors: Quarterbacks, Cam Robinson, Buccaneers, Lions

Cam Robinson

  • Aaron Wilson reports that Alabama tackle Cam Robinson is scheduled to visit with the Texans, Broncos, Bengals, and Giants and has already met with the Jaguars, 49ers, Ravens, and Panthers.

  • According to Jason La Canfora, UNC’s Mitch Trubisky will be the first quarterback off the board and he can’t see him getting past the Jets at No. 6 overall. According to La Canfora, mentions that the real intrigue will be whether a team is willing to trade up ahead of the Jets to get Trubisky with the 49ers being a team to watch in a trade-down scenario.
  • La Canfora isn’t ruling out the Browns attempting to trade for Patriots backup QB Jimmy Garoppolo during the draft.
  • The Bears are reportedly doing a “ton of work” on quarterbacks, but La Canfora mentions that their decision to sign Mike Glennon and their other roster needs most likely lead to them addressing another position in round one.
  • After Trubisky, La Canfora says there’s a debate regarding who the second best quarterback is in this year’s class. Some sources have told La Canfora that they have Texas Tech’s Pat Mahomes as the top passer on the board. However, most of these teams reportedly aren’t in need of a quarterback.
  • La Canfora ultimately expects the second quarterback to be either Mahomes or Deshaun Watson.
  • The next tier, according to La Canfora, will be Notre Dame’s DeShone Kizer and Cal’s Davis Webb. La Canfora isn’t ruling out Kizer dropping out of round one altogether due to concerns regarding his attitude and maturity.
  • La Canfora mentions the Chargers, Saints and Cardinals as some teams to watch for quarterbacks with the Saints likely to use one of their two first-round picks on the position.
  • As for the Cardinals, La Canfora reports that they are gauging the cost of what it would take to trade up from No. 13 overall and he has heard “strong buzz” about them and Watson.
  • La Canfora says that the Texans are drafting a quarterback high in this year’s class and he can’t see Mahomes getting past them.
  • In the end, La Canfora anticipates four quarterbacks being selected in round one.
