Bengals rookie defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick’s NFL debut will be delayed. The number 17 overall pick in this year’s draft will miss the Bengals preseason finale on Thursday.
“We’re still looking at him,” Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said, via Kevin Kelly of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “He had some soreness in the knee yesterday and we just want to make sure. We’ve got a lot of time, so just keep working with him.”
Kirkpatrick has missed the entire preseason while he’s been nursing tendonitis in his left knee. Although it sounds like he’ll be fine for the Bengals season opener, Kirkpatrick still hasn’t taken a live rep yet, which is a concern entering the regular season.
