Drew Brees “Very Confident” That An Agreement Will Be Reached With The Saints

Saints QB Drew Brees is still “very confident” that both he and the team will be able to come to an agreement in the coming weeks.

I’ve always said, you’d think this process should be a lot more simple than it is,” Brees said, via Pro Football Talk. “It just always seems to be complicated. But I’m still very confident we’ll get a long-term deal done.

While the two sides have had months to negotiate a new contract, this will probably come down to the final hour before the July 16th deadline. Brees is said to be looking for a base salary of over $20 million per season, with the Saints showing plenty of reluctance to meet his requirements.

It’s hard to imagine this deal not getting done, especially when you consider the NFL ruling in regards to the bounty scandal.
