ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that former CFL WR Duron Carter is close to an agreement with the Indianapolis Colts.

This comes just hours after Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star reported that Carter is free to sign with a team of his choosing right now, even though previous reports had said that hewould need to wait until February 10 to making anything official.

Montreal Alouettes GM Jim Popp tells Holder that once Carter agrees to terms with an NFL team, he will be released from his CFL contract.

Holder has said that the Colts are considered to be the “frontrunners” to sign Carter, due to the presence of QB Andrew Luck

The Vikings were reportedly in the mix for Carter as well, but you can’t blame a talent young receiver for wanting to pair up with arguably the games best young quarterback.

Carter, 23, caught 75 passes for 1,030 yards and seven touchdowns to go along with 40 yards rushing.
