Cole apparently mentioned that the Miami Dolphins could be a speculative trade option, but clarified that he wasn’t reporting that a deal was being discussed.
“I’m NOT reporting (Kansas City and Miami) are talking trade over Bowe,” tweets Cole. “Not yet, at least.”
Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post adds that the Dolphins are not pursuing a deal for Bowe.
Bowe will be a free agent at the end of the season and given that the Chiefs have struggled mightily on offense, he seems likely to move on if given the opportunity to do so. The Chiefs franchised him back in February, so they would have to be willing to pay him an additional 20% to do so again in 2013.
The Dolphins do have some extra draft picks to include in a deal, and it would make sense for them to target a legitimate No. 1 receiver, so they could be one team to watch as the trade deadline nears or possible during the offseason.
We have Bowe listed as the No. 5 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
