Cowboys & Falcons Options For DE Dwight Freeney?

ESPN’s Paul Kuharsky writes that the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons could be two options for impending free agent DE Dwight Freeney.

Kuharsky adds that Freeney will almost certainly have to take “far less money” in his next contract, but believes he could make some of that back with an incentive-laden deal.

The Seahawks have also been tossed out as a speculative landing spot, but you could add almost any team that employs a 4-3 defensive scheme to that list. The Miami Dolphins come to mind.

The Colts have informed him that they won’t be bringing him back, so he’ll be considering all available options come March 13.

Freeney, 33, clearly wasn’t a great fit in Chuck Pagano’s 3-4 defense that had him playing outside linebacker, but he’s had quite the career in Indianapolis. He’s tallied 107.5 sacks over the course of 11 NFL seasons.

We have him currently listed as the No. 49 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
