Dwyane Bowe Unlikely To Be Back In KC Next Year?

Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star writes that WR Dwayne Bowe is unlikely to reach a long-term agreement with the Chiefs in the weeks to come, which is a pretty good indication that his time in Kansas City is probably coming to an end.

Teicher admits that there’s still a chance something could get done or the Chiefs could always franchise him for the second straight season. However, that comes with a pretty high cost given that the CBA requires an additional 20 percent to added to the average of the top-five salaries for the player’s position.

Bowe played out this season under $9.5 million franchise tender before he was lost for the season with a rib injury. The Chiefs offense needs a lot of work and they have two quality offensive lineman, Branden Albert and Ryan Lilja, to address leading up to or during free agency.

We have Bowe listed as the No. 5 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
