Buccaneers Sign G Carl Nicks To A Five-Year Deal

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Buccaneers have finalized a deal with G Carl Nick who gets a five-year contract worth $47.5 million and includes $31 million guarantees.

Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune reports that Carl Nicks has arrived in Tampa Bay and mentions that “a deal may be forthcoming in the next 24 hours.”

Several reports have mentioned that the Buccaneers intend to have Nicks under contract and the addition of Vincent Jackson can’t hurt their chances any. Adding Nicks to their offensive line would be a huge improvement and should help their run game in 2012.

While there is optimism that something could be done in the future, there’s no guarantees at this point.

According to Jason La Canfora, the Eagles and Buccaneers are trying to get meetings setup with G Carl Nicks.

Nicks has said that he would like to be the highest paid G in the NFL which is a good sign for a team like the Bucs since they are $44.9 million under the cap but that will almost certainly make things tough for the Eagles considering that they currently have $13.9 million  in cap space.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds that the Buc’s appear to be the favorites at this point.
