According to Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly, the agent for Eagles CB Nnamdi Asomugha mentioned that the team has in fact asked his client to take a “massive” pay cut to remain with the team.
Mosher adds that Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie “aren’t coming back” and the “buzz” around the Combine was that they’ve already made up their minds regarding the matter.
Asomugha, 31, is due $15 million in 2013, with $4 million of that figure guaranteed. He produced 55 tackles, 12 defended passes, and 1 interception in 2012, so it’s pretty clear that his production is nowhere near being worth what he’s scheduled to make.
Rodgers-Cromartie is an unrestricted free agent, so the Eagles can allow him to depart and possibly receive a compensatory pick in return for him next season.
We have Rodgers-Cromartie listed as the No. 43 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
