Eagles Could Have Interest In Saints Free Agent RB Mark Ingram?

Lyons Yellin of WWL TV has heard “rumblings” that the Eagles could have interest in Saints free agent RB Mark Ingram.

This came after the news broke last night that the Eagles had traded RB LeSean McCoy to the Bills in return for Kiko Alonso.

Saints HC Sean Payton recently mentioned that Ingram is “someone that we want to keep.”

“I spoke with Mark today,” Payton said, via Nick Underhill of the Advocate. “The good thing about Mark is that we’re very close with his agent. Mickey (Loomis, the Saints general manager) will talk with him quite a bit. Obviously Mark is someone that we want to keep. Hopefully we can do that.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter (per Nick Underhill) said earlier in the week that he expects Ingram to secure a deal that would pay him between $4-6 million per year on the open market.

Many have assumed that the Eagles will look to the draft for another running back, but they do have a ton of cap space to work with now that they’ve traded McCoy and cut guys like OLB Trent Cole and CB Cary Williams.

Ingram, 25,  is coming off of his best season in the NFL and will be interesting free agent to keep an eye on in the coming weeks. He could end up being a decent value depending on the level of interest in free agent running backs.

In 2014, Ingram ran for 964 yards on 226 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with nine touchdowns and 29 receptions for 145 yards receiving. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 running back out of 57 qualifying players.

We have Ingram listed as the No. 40 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
