Eagles Cut CBs Ron Brooks & Mitchell White, Sign Two

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Wednesday that they’ve released veteran CB Ron Brooks and waived CB Mitchell White.

  • The Eagles also signed LB Carlos Fields and LB Christian Tago to contracts.

Brooks, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Bills back in 2012. After four years in Buffalo, Brooks signed a three-year, $6 million contract with the Eagles as a free agent back in March of last year.

Brook, unfortunately, suffered a ruptured his right quad tendon last year that led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve.

This offseason, Brooks agreed to a pay cut to return to Philadelphia.

In 2016, Brooks had recorded 14 tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass defense for the Eagles over the course of six games. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 235 total snaps last year.

Fields, 26, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Winston-Salem back in 2014. Since then, Fields has played for a number of teams including the Buccaneers, Giants, Colts, Redskins and Bills.

The Redskins signed Fields to their practice squad last year but elected to cut him loose not long after. The later Chargers signed him to their practice squad during the season before eventually calling him up in December.

Fields was set to make a base salary of $540,000 for the 2017 season when the Chargers released him this past May.

In 2016, Fields was active for one game but did not record a statistic.  in five games and recorded four tackles.
