Eagles Cut K Alex Henery, Waive/Injured RB Kenjon Barner

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced 19 roster cuts on Saturday and two of the more notable names among this group include K Alex Henery and RB Kenjon Barner.

Henery’s release isn’t all that shocking given that Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com reported last night that that rookie Cody Parkey has beaten him out for the Eagles’ kicking job.

Henery, 27, converted 1 of 3 field goal attempts this preseason. Last year, Henery was successful on 82.1 percent of his field goal attempts and made one of two tries from at least 50 yards.

He’s entering the final year of his rookie contract and has a base salary of $645,000 for the upcoming season.

Barner, 25, came over in a trade with the Panthers just a few weeks ago. He was taken in the sixth round of the 2013 draft by the Panthers.

Last year, Barner rushed for seven yards on six carries while catching two passes for seven yards, and contributing 17 yards as a kick returner.
