Eagles Cut QB Stephen Morris, Sign QB Thad Lewis

The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they’ve placed QB Stephen Morris on waivers Monday and signed veteran QB Thad Lewis to their 53-man roster.

Morris, 24, wound up signing on with the Jaguars as a priority undrafted free agent out of Miami back in May of last year. He was unable to make the roster last year and later signed on to their practice squad.

The Eagles claimed him off of waivers a few weeks ago after he was among the Jaguars final roster cuts.

In two preseason games, Morris has throw for 198 while completing 57 percent of his passes to go along with one touchdown.

Lewis, 27, worked out for the Eagles not too long ago when they brought in a few quarterbacks including Josh Johnson for tryouts. Lewis hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since the 2013 season when he was playing for the Buffalo Bills.
